Europcar’s Bryan Coquard has won two stages of the Etoile de Bessèges and each time winning a bunch sprint by several lengths.
The neo-pro sprinter has been tipped for big things and it will be interesting to see him sprinting against the likes of Cavendish and Greipel soon or against French rivals Arnaud Démare and Nacer Bouhanni.
But he’s not a new name. Here he is on the front cover of Vélo magazine in 2008 with Sébastien Chavanel aged 15 where the FDJ pro - and younger brother of Sylvain - acts as a “big brother” to guide a junior. Five years later and things have changed but Chavanel is still guiding Coquard for he is now Coquard’s lead out man at Europcar.
