100 days away from the 100th edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège ASO have published details of the route.

What’s new? The Côte de La Vecquée is back on the route after a few years absence. It is a long climb which replaces three climbs: the Col du Rosier, Côte du Maquisard and the Côte de Mont Theux. Fewer climbs but the Vecquée reaches 520m above sea level compared to <350m for the missing three.

The classic finish via the La Roche-aux-Faucons and the Côte de St. Nicolas is returns after roadworks forced a late change last year. There will be a €5,000 prize in Bastogne at the 100km point, enough to animate the morning breakaway even more than usual.

The total distance is 263km and there’s always enough climbing to match an Alpine stage of the Tour de France. The climbs come late in the race making this one of the hardest efforts on the calendar.
